With winding stone staircases, suits of armour and secret panels, Thornbury Castle offers a truly magical experience for older families.

Although it doesn’t feature all of the family facilities you will find at the other Luxury Family Hotels, we believe Thornbury Castle, with its tales of knights, princesses, kings and queens, is ideal for children aged from approximately eight upwards who will be wide eyed at the chance to stay in a real life castle!

Early suppers are available for our younger guests from 6.45 pm and we can also organise babysitters if Mum and Dad would prefer to enjoy a more romantic dinner later on in the evening. We offer archery and croquet on site and of course we have over 14 acres of gardens and grounds to explore – hide and seek doesn’t get any better than this!

Most of our bedchambers and suites have ample space for rollaway beds and our Superior Deluxe Suite even has two handcrafted ‘Truckle Beds’ for our younger guests.
