Bristol Shakespeare Festival 2015

The Bristol Shakespeare Festival is back for its twelfth year of traditional, innovative and exciting productions. Whether you want to grab a picnic blanket and head outside, or enjoy a more intimate indoor performance; the woods, studios, theatres, parks, caves, boats and pubs are ready and waiting to keep you entertained this summer.

The programme also features education projects and outreach programmes.

Shaun in the City

n 2015, Aardman’s internationally-acclaimed character Shaun the Sheep appears in a ewe-nique arts trail! Over 100 giant sculptures of Shaun the Sheep created by artists, celebrities and designers will be placed in iconic locations and beautiful green spaces across Bristol. This year, Shaun in the City will be appearing in London and then Bristol in the summer, before the flocks go to auction to raise money for sick children in hospitals across the UK.

Shaun in the City is brought to you by the team that created the award-winning ‘Gromit Unleashed’ which saw Aardman’s loveable canine sidekick Gromit raise £2.3 million for Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Bristol Harbour Festival 2015

Bristol’s biggest FREE event will once again transform the city’s harbourside, with three days of cultural celebrations from 17-19 July 2015.

The Bristol Harbour Festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to explore the two mile stretch of the harbour featuring seven areas including dance, music, children’s activities, a busy on-water programme and phenomenal circus performances.

Organisers have promised a packed three day event, across a two mile stretch of the city from Brunel’s ss Great Britain to M Shed, and from Queen Square to the city’s leafy Castle Park. Visitors will be entertained by a vibrant mix of live performance, artists, musicians, dancers, circus acts, markets and street stalls. On the water, hundreds of sailing vessels, from historic ships and boats to pleasure yachts and harbour ferries will provide a colourful backdrop to Bristol’s annual celebration of its maritime heritage.

Festival goers can expect all their festival favourites from the festival market in Queen Square to the dedicated children’s area in Castle Park and from the dance stage in Millennium Square to the maritime activities in Bristol’s historic harbour. And there will be plenty of live music, street artists and circus acts too.

Entry to the festival is free and many of the festival events and activities are also free. Some shows and performance will incur a charge.

Bristol International Balloon Fiesta

Bristol plays host to Europe’s largest ballooning event; an amazing spectacle and FREE event for the whole family. Over 150 hot air balloons will take off from Ashton Court Estate at dawn and light up the skies at night with evening glows with fun activities on the ground to keep the family entertained.

The event features four days of extravagant hot-air balloon displays with half a million visitors gathering in the gorgeous grounds of Ashton Court to watch balloons of all shapes and sizes lift off over the City of Bristol. Entertainment for all the family includes fairground rides, delicious food stalls and bars, face painting and acoustic music areas.

With mass Hot Air Balloon ascents at 6am and 6pm, the infamous Nightglows on both Thursday and Saturday evenings, areana and air displays, over 250 trade stands and caterers plus a variety of other entertainments, the Fiesta is an event not to be missed.  Free to attend. To find out more about this year’s festival, please visit
