Our rooms

Enjoy regal dreams in the Duke’s Bedchamber where King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn slept some 500 years ago or spend a night in the Tower Suite featuring what is reputed to be the widest four-poster bed in England measuring 10 feet across.

There are 27 bedchambers and all are fabulously atmospheric, most with four-poster or coronet beds, stone walls, tapestries, ornate carved ceilings and views to historic parkland and the River Severn beyond. The Tudor Bedchamber even has arrow-slit windows.

Each bedchamber is an experience. All rooms are luxuriously warm and extremely comfortable with opulent, well-appointed bathrooms and colour TVs (carefully screened, of course). Guests will appreciate welcoming touches such as the decanter of sherry you'll find on your arrival, while complimentary tea and coffee trays with hot chocolate are in all bedchambers. 

Singles

Our two Single bedchambers are in the South Wing on the first floor. Suitable for our younger guests and close to a number of double rooms for parents.

Classics

Our Classic bedchambers, one in the North Wing and seven in the South, are comfortable and roomy enough for two, but unable to accept roll away beds. Two may be split into twin beds.

Deluxe

Some of our finest and most atmospheric bedchambers with many features like four-poster beds, coal effect gas fires in most and either stone walls in the North Wing, or classically wallpapered in the South. One sits behind the amazing five star oriel window and is the brightest room in the castle, while another is stone walled and has arrow slot windows creating an amazing atmosphere.

Suites

Our four Suites include our Victorian two-bedroomed Gatehouse situated at the entrance to the castle. With two bathrooms, a kitchen and lounge/dining room, it is perfect for a family who can also enjoy the secluded garden. Two other suites have four-poster beds and the fourth has a double bed. All these are spacious and have separate sitting or dressing areas.

Superior deluxe

Situated at the top of the tower in the South Wing, this fabulous bedchamber houses what is believed to be the biggest four-poster bed in the UK! Traditionally decorated in a Tudor style, it even has two ‘Truckle Beds’ which may be made up for our younger families to share. The bedchamber is reached via 77 circular stone steps (Don’t worry, we’ll carry the luggage!) giving you some of the finest views in south Gloucestershire.
