Discover 15 acres of grounds and gardens in which to run free, explore and experience activities. Outside, there’s archery, falconry and croquet, or head indoors to play chess and traditional Tudor board games in our cosy lounge and library. The grounds and gardens of Thornbury Castle present a true breath of fresh air for the young and young at heart.

We welcome all children from the age of eight upwards, when they are most likely to appreciate all of the above, and the experience of staying in a ‘real live castle’.

Henry VII Family Suite

A magnificent four-poster Suite with the advantage of a fold down ‘Murphy’ bed, ideal for families with one or two children or a third adult. The bed is concealed within the wooden panelling in the lounge, adjacent to the ornamental stone fireplace (an additional children’s bed can also be set up in the lounge to provide sleeping arrangements for a total of two adults and two children).

The bathroom has a separate shower and bath to complete this luxurious suite. The Henry VII Suite is situated on the first floor in the North Wing overlooking the inner courtyard and is accessed via a circular wooden staircase.  A great base to explore local family attractions such as Bristol Zoo, Westonbirt Arboretum and SS Great Briton.
