Fireworks Policy

Professional firework displays at Thornbury Castle are delivered by Chase Lane Fireworks using a fully trained and qualified team of firework professionals. Before each event, the display site and surrounding conditions are carefully assessed, with a suitable risk assessment and firing plan prepared to address matters such as safety distances, weather, wind direction, nearby buildings, spectators, livestock, wildlife and the potential risk of fire.

The local Avon Fire and Rescue Service is notified ahead of every scheduled display, and the display team maintains clear emergency arrangements and access routes throughout the event.

Chase Lane Fireworks uses legally compliant CE-marked or UKCA-marked fireworks, observes the correct safety distances and adjusts or postpones a display if conditions create an unacceptable fire or environmental risk. Appropriate fire-safety equipment is kept readily available, the firing area is controlled, and only qualified personnel may enter it.

Following each display, the team checks for unexploded material or smouldering debris and undertakes a rigorous four-stage clean-up, including removing equipment and spent cases, collecting debris, vacuuming smaller material and completing a final sweep of the site. These procedures complement the company’s limits on firework size and noise and its commitment to protecting residents, animals, wildlife and the surrounding environment.
