October at Thornbury Castle is all about cosy afternoons sitting in front of the open fires, and of course Halloween! The castle really comes into its own during this season, with carved pumpkins adorning the castle entrance in a variety of ghoulish designs and candlelit evenings spent steeped in history – if only these walls could talk. Flavours from the season are used at dinner service from swede and cinnamon to dark chocolate and red wine – a lot of the produce is grown here on-site in our Garden Kitchen. There’s plenty of Halloween-inspired things to do in the area like visiting a local pumpkin patch, spine-tingling tours or visiting the Witch of Wookey at the eerie caves of Wookey Hole.
